Mission & Program

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Waukesha String Académie is to provide an opportunity for excellence in the pursuit of comprehensive musical study for young violinists and cellists.

PROGRAM

The Waukesha String Académie and String Académie 2.0 offer violin and cello instruction as an after-school program - a high quality comprehensive musical education. Our learning environment is non-judgmental and closely knit, with teacher, parent, and student working together to reach learning goals. The Waukesha String Académie is grounded in the fundamental pedagogies and philososphies of Paul Rolland, Shinichi Suzuki, and Mimi Zweig.

Students from Beginner through Suzuki Book 2 receive one 30-minute private lesson and one 45 to 60-minute group lesson per week. Beginner students may have the opportunity for a weekly extra "mentor lesson" with a high school orchestra student.

Students who have reached a minimum of Suzuki book 5 level in their String Académie studies participate in String Académie 2.0 and receive one 45-minute private lesson and one 60-minute group lesson each week.

Attendance of students and parent is required at all lessons and performances, and parents are expected to practice with the student at home on a daily basis. When students reach a certain level of advancement and maturity, the teacher will indicate to the parent to what extent parent involvement may begin to decrease.

Nondiscrimination Policy

It is the policy of the Waukesha String Académie not to discriminate on the basis of race, creed, ancestry, marital status, gender, sexual orientation, age, physical disability, veteran's status, political service or affiliation, color, religion, or national origin.
